About
"Ancient Egypt reimagined as glossy palace intrigue"
This three-part miniseries imagines the reign of the young pharaoh Tutankhamun, thrust onto Egypt's throne as a teenager and surrounded by scheming advisors, priests, and generals who each want to control him. It plays out as lush historical soap opera more than rigorous history, heavy on court intrigue, forbidden romance, and palace betrayal. The pace is brisk given its short runtime, leaning on production design and a young cast to carry the drama. It works best as glossy escapist spectacle rather than an authoritative look at ancient Egypt.
the lavish sets and costumes bringing ancient Egyptian court life to vivid, dramatic life.
you want historically rigorous accuracy rather than soap-opera style palace intrigue.
