About
"Ancient myth retold with soap-opera earnestness"
This BBC/Netflix miniseries retells the Trojan War from its spark, the affair between Paris and Helen, through to the city's destruction. It moves through myth's greatest hits: divine meddling, doomed romance, Achilles' rage, Hector's honor, all rendered with earnest, glossy costume-drama seriousness. The pace is slow for a war epic, dialogue often stilted, and the tone swings between soap opera and tragedy without settling. Visually it has some scale and ambition, and mythology fans may enjoy seeing familiar beats dramatized, but it rarely achieves the sweep or menace the story deserves.
the ambitious attempt to dramatize the entire Trojan War myth in one continuous arc.
you want a fast, gritty war epic rather than a slow-burn mythological romance.
