About
"Old friends aging into a harder Britain"
A follow-up to the beloved 1997 film, this series catches up with the same Sheffield mates and their families years later, now facing austerity, unemployment, and a crumbling social safety net. It trades the movie's cheeky strip-tease uplift for something quieter and sadder, using warmth and dry humor to soften real hardship: food banks, housing crises, aging parents. The pace is gentle and conversational, more slice-of-life ensemble drama than comedy romp. What carries it is the cast's easy chemistry and genuine affection for these characters, even when the material turns unexpectedly bleak.
the returning cast's lived-in warmth and chemistry after decades apart.
you wanted the film's playful energy rather than a sober look at austerity.
