About
"Gorgeous violence undercut by a rushed, divisive turn"
Root A continues the story of Kaneki, a young man caught between the human world and the ghoul underworld that feeds on it, as tensions with the ghoul-hunting CCG boil over into open war. The tone turns bleaker and more violent than the first season, leaning hard into body-horror action and Kaneki's fracturing psyche. It moves fast and looks great in its fight scenes, but it's also notorious for swerving away from its source manga midway, leaving the plotting feeling rushed and disjointed by the finale.
the visceral, beautifully animated fight sequences and Kaneki's descent into darker territory.
