About
"Body horror rendered as gorgeous monochrome nightmare"
In the sleepy town of Kurouzu-cho, spirals start showing up everywhere: in pottery, in hair, in the shape of a snail shell, and soon in the minds of its residents. A teenage couple watches as the obsession spreads like a slow-motion plague, warping bodies and sanity alike. Based on Junji Ito's manga, this adaptation trades jump scares for dread that accumulates panel by panel. Its stark black-and-white art is genuinely unsettling, though the short run means the horror builds faster than the story can fully pay off.
the meticulously faithful, genuinely disturbing black-and-white art style lifted straight from Junji Ito's pages.
you want a fully resolved story, since the brief run leaves the escalating horror feeling rushed.
