About
"Jazz-club intimacy filmed like a documentary"
An American jazz club owner in Paris juggles debt, a volatile business partner, a strained relationship with his teenage daughter, and a death that pulls him into danger. The setup is loose crime-drama, but the show is really about atmosphere: handheld cameras, overlapping French and English dialogue, and long, unhurried live musical performances that function almost like a documentary. It's moody, intimate, and deliberately messy rather than plot-driven, prioritizing feeling and rhythm over tight storytelling. Patient viewers get a lived-in, sensory hangout show; others may find it meandering and frustratingly loose.
the extended, unpolished live jazz performances that give the show its loose, documentary-like soul.
you want tight plotting rather than loose, atmosphere-first storytelling with subtitled dialogue.
