About
"A darker, wearier Poirot than you remember"
This miniseries adapts Agatha Christie's novel about a serial killer taunting Hercule Poirot with letters, striking victims in alphabetical order across England. It's a moody, slow-burn mystery that leans hard into atmosphere: grim 1930s streets, xenophobia toward Poirot as an aging outsider, and a general sense of decay rather than cozy puzzle-box fun. John Malkovich plays a subdued, weary Poirot quite unlike previous versions. The pace is deliberate and the tone bleak, prioritizing character and dread over rapid deduction, which makes it a rewarding but demanding watch for genre traditionalists.
John Malkovich's unconventional, melancholic take on Hercule Poirot.
you want classic cozy-mystery brightness and a spry, confident Poirot.
