About
"Earnest martial-arts drama about family and identity"
A young woman returns to San Francisco after years training at a Chinese monastery, only to find her family and community under threat from a criminal network. She uses her martial arts skills to become a vigilante while navigating family expectations, romance, and her own identity. It's earnest, family-forward superhero-adjacent drama with genuine martial arts choreography, leaning soapy in its relationship plots but sincere about representation and legacy, landing somewhere between comfort-watch and CW-style melodrama.
the sincere, culturally grounded take on a Chinese-American superhero-style story with genuine fight choreography.
you find CW-style melodrama and family subplots slow down the action too much.
