About
"Cool-guy demon hunter noir, style over substance"
Based on the stylish demon-hunting video game, this anime follows Dante, a wisecracking half-demon mercenary who runs a detective agency called Devil May Cry, taking on supernatural cases while a deeper conspiracy about his own origins simmers underneath. Episodes lean episodic, mixing noir atmosphere with flashy sword-and-gun demon fights. The pace is brisk and the mood cool and moody rather than dark, carried mostly by Dante's swagger and the show's slick visual style rather than deep plotting or emotional weight.
Dante's effortless swagger and the show's slick, noir-tinged demon-hunting set pieces.
you want the tighter plotting and stakes of the original games rather than episodic filler.
