About
"Manila noir where folklore monsters are the suspects"
Trese follows Alexandra Trese, a detective who polices the hidden supernatural underworld lurking beneath Manila's streets, called in whenever a crime scene turns out to involve ghosts, spirits, or creatures from Filipino folklore. It plays like a noir procedural with a mythological twist: moody, atmospheric, and briskly paced across six tight episodes. What carries it is the setting itself, a rare mainstream showcase for Philippine mythology rendered in slick, shadow-heavy animation, plus a stoic, capable lead investigating cases that double as glimpses into a rich, underused folklore tradition rarely seen on Western streaming platforms.
the deep dive into Filipino mythology rarely dramatized for global streaming audiences.
you want deep character arcs rather than a fast, plot-driven procedural.
