About
"Gorgeous coming-of-age mecha that loses its nerve late"
In a walled-off future where humanity hides from monstrous Klaxosaurs, teenagers who've never known family or freedom pilot giant mecha called Franxx in mixed-sex pairs, their coordination tied to intimacy and emotional sync. The show starts as vivid, melancholic coming-of-age sci-fi with striking mecha battles and a prickly, memorable central pairing. It's visually gorgeous and emotionally earnest, but pacing wobbles badly in the back half as it juggles too many ideas, swinging between tender character work and overloaded, rushed plotting that frustrated a lot of viewers by the finale.
the striking visual design and the raw, awkward chemistry between its two leads.
you need a consistently paced back half without tonal whiplash or rushed plotting.
