About
"A ticking-clock meditation on memory and mortality"
Samuel L. Jackson plays Ptolemy Grey, an elderly man slipping into dementia who's offered an experimental treatment that briefly restores his sharp mind, at a steep physical cost. With his memory clear again, he races to solve a decades-old family mystery and set his affairs right before the drug's effects reverse. It's a quiet, melancholy character piece rather than a thriller, carried almost entirely by Jackson's performance and a tender bond with the young woman who becomes his caretaker. Slow, sad, and unexpectedly moving.
a devastating, career-capping performance from Samuel L. Jackson playing against type.
you need plot momentum rather than slow, emotionally heavy character study.
