About
"The games' story told straight, no filler"
This four-episode special retells the story of the original Pokémon games rather than the long-running TV series, following a young trainer named Red as he leaves home, catches his first Pokémon, battles gym leaders, and clashes with the criminal Team Rocket on his way to the Pokémon League. The tone is brisker and moodier than the mainstream anime, with darker lighting, tighter pacing, and battles that feel more consequential. It plays like a nostalgic, compressed adaptation aimed at people who grew up with the games rather than a kids' cartoon.
a faithful, fast-moving retelling of the original games without the franchise's usual kid-show padding.
you want the long-running TV series' humor and side characters rather than a condensed game adaptation.
