About
"A grief-shaped origin story for TV's stoniest investigator"
A prequel to NCIS, this show drops back to 1991 to show a young, grieving Leroy Jethro Gibbs starting out as a rookie agent at the Camp Pendleton office after tragedy has already reshaped him. It leans into procedural case-of-the-week rhythms while slowly filling in the emotional scaffolding behind the character fans already know from the flagship series. The tone is steadier and more melancholic than typical NCIS, carried by strong period detail, a mentor-rookie dynamic, and Mark Harmon's narration bridging past and present. It's comfort-procedural territory, not reinvention, built for people who already care about the mythology.
the slow reveal of how loss and mentorship forged the Gibbs fans already recognize.
