About
"A sharp, uncomfortable fable about beauty and status"
Based on the hit webtoon, Lookism follows a bullied high schooler who wakes up one day with a second, strikingly handsome and athletic body, letting him switch between his old and new selves. What starts as a wish-fulfillment fantasy about appearance and social status quickly tangles with school bullying, gang turf wars, and questions of identity. The animation is glossy but uneven, pacing is brisk and plot-driven rather than reflective, and the tone swings between teen drama, action brawls, and pointed social commentary on how looks shape the way people are treated.
the blunt, unflinching way it dramatizes how differently the world treats attractive versus unattractive people.
you want subtle characterization rather than plot-driven action and broad social commentary.
