Captured by a mysterious assassin, the party must navigate the City of the Dead. Meanwhile, Wren continues to chronicle the epic, but must defend her storyteller's rights when the charismatic Silver Tom arrives claiming that the epic has been granted to him. And in the east, Karn the Barbarian uncovers word that the Sword of Fighting has been unearthed.

Glorion tracks the party to a dwarven mining town, intent on retrieving the Sword of Fighting from hapless wizard Perf.
