About
"Real prank calls acted out by puppets"
Crank Yankers takes real prank phone calls made by comedians and stages them with crude, googly-eyed puppets acting out both sides of the conversation. The joke is the collision of low-tech puppetry with genuinely mean, absurd, or baffling calls to real unsuspecting people. It's fast, juvenile, and episodic, built entirely on short sketches rather than any ongoing story. Some calls are inspired, others fall flat, and the puppet gimmick wears thin in long stretches, but at its best it's a dumb, gleeful showcase of comedians' improv chops on the phone.
the genuine, unscripted comedian prank calls turned into gleefully crude puppet sketches.
you need consistency, because the hit-to-miss ratio between calls varies wildly.
